Resources and Information to Make Your Celebrations a Success

We welcome all schools, libraries, bookstores, and other locations working with young people, to join in the fun during Children’s Book Week (May 2-8 and Nov. 7-13).

Over the past two years, we have greatly expanded participation to include kids and families celebrating at home, virtual-events, and more. The ways that communities have developed to connect have inspired and astounded us, and we are excited to see that in-person events are an option for more and more as time goes on. With that in mind, we continue to encourage anyone to sign-up to participate in whatever way they can.

What does it mean to participate? It means that you will engage with kids during Children’s Book Week, encouraging them to read, talk about books, connect with book creators, and more. The sky is the limit on how you can be involved in encouraging a life-long love of reading.

Using Social Media

Adults can get in on the action by participating in the How Do You Book? Challenge and sharing their declaration. What do you read? Where do you read? How Do you read? What about your principal, children’s librarian friends, or bookstore employees?

Share your How Do You Book? Declarations with us online by using #HowDoYouBook in your post and tagging The Children’s Book Council. Promote your virtual and in-person events with your network and share with us to help amplify through our channels.
