About Raúl The Third
Raúl the Third is a three-time Pura Belpré award-winning illustrator, author, and artist. His book ¡Vamos! Let’s Cross the Bridge was named one of the New York Times/New York Public Library’s Best Illustrated Children’s Books of 2021. He is currently adapting his ¡World of Vamos! books, which include the El Toro and Friends early readers and Coco Rocho board books, into an animated television series with Silvergate Media and Mercury Filmworks. His work centers around the contemporary Mexican-American experience and his memories of growing up in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. He is also the illustrator for the Lowriders in Space series by Cathy Camper and Stuntboy, In the Meantime by Jason Reynolds. He lives in Boston, Massachusetts, with colorist Elaine Bay and their son Raúl the Fourth.
