2023 Children’s Book Week Recap

The 104th anniversary of Children’s Book Week took place on May 1-7 and on November 6-12, 2023.

2023 Highlights & Resources:

• Official Poster — poster and activities by award-winning artist, author, and illustrator Rilla Alexander and inspired by the 2023 slogan, Read Books. Spark Change.
• Bookmarks — Exclusive bookmarks by six prominent children’s book illustrators.
• Find Your Spark Challenge — a new challenge where kids can discover and share the spark a book can make.
• Draw Characters — new Children’s Book Week drawing pages featuring characters from your favorite children’s book illustrators.
• Educator Kit — activities that encourage young readers to think about books as a spark for positive change, whether in themselves or their communities.
• Resources For Publishers — resources for publishers and book creators.
• Resources For Locations — resources for schools, libraries, and bookstores.
• Resources For Home — activities for kids and readers at home.
• Spring Preparations – all the Spring Children’s Book Week resources.
• Fall Preparations – all the Fall Children’s Book Week resources.
• Floyd Cooper Day — Keep his legacy alive with book read-alouds of Floyd-illustrated books on Memorial Day, the Tulsa Race Massacre, and Juneteenth.
• Anna Dewdney Read Together Award — picture book prize in honor of the late author and illustrator.
