Book Week 2020 at Home

Children’s Book Week is not only a celebration of books, but of connection. It is a vehicle to unite kids and adults with books, authors, and illustrators in order to foster a love of reading. As we all take the recommended measures to keep ourselves and loved ones safe, we are adjusting the traditional celebration this spring.

We invite everyone to celebrate with us at home and online using #BookWeek2020atHome May 4-10 this year!

Our current and past National Ambassadors for Young People’s Literature invite you to celebrate Children’s Book Week! See below for celebration ideas, video content, and more for #BookWeek2020atHome.

Check out this blog post to discover all the great virtual events and posts book creators and event locations are doing during the week!

  • Ask your social media community to share how they are celebrating at home. They can use #BookWeek2020atHome and tag your location to share their at-home celebration ideas and activities. And you can share some of your favorites online and in your next newsletter.
  • How about a community “Round Robin” story? Start a story on your facebook page and ask parents/kids to continue the story in the comments. You can even read the finished story out loud online.
