This year’s poster was created by Bryan Collier, an award-winning author and illustrator. The 2021 poster features this year’s Children’s Book Week slogan, Reading is a Superpower which focuses on kids and teens discovering their superpowers and using them for good.

About Bryan Collier

Bryan Collier loves to paint. He has successfully channeled his creative energy and love of art into an illustrious career as a children’s book illustrator and writer. He began painting at the age of 15 and eventually landed a scholarship to attend Pratt Institute in New York. He has won four Caldecott Honors forRosa by Nikki Giovanni, Martin’s Big Words by Doreen Rappaport, Trombone Shorty by Troy Andrews, and Dave the Potter by Laban Carack Hill. His first book, Uptown, won the Coretta Scott King Award and the Ezra Jack Keats Award. He has won five more Coretta Scott King Awards and three Coretta Scott King Honors.

Launched in 1919, Children’s Book Week will commemorate its 102nd anniversary in 2021. It is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country.

Children’s Book Week Store

Every year, an official poster celebrating Children’s Book Week has been created by a children’s literature icon. All proceeds from the Children’s Book Week Store benefit Every Child a Reader.
